I think the ability of an article writer to delete postings would be helpful. Authors care more about their articles and the useful vs garbage information in posts to them. just my 10 cents

This will mean legitimate criticism of articles pointing out faults, workarounds or better solutions may very well be deleted by those who may not be keen on peer review, thus lessening the usefulness of the forums. I'm putting in a filter. Let's hope it works. cheers, Chris Maunder

Once again, I got a garbage Chinese/Korean/who knows posting on one of my article pages. This has been pointed out before, like two messages ago, and nothing has been done. It is time to require confirmed registration to post. A mechanism to delete posts should also be an option for an article writer. There was a reason I stopped frequenting CodeGuru. Let's not let Code Project go down the same path. Anyone who thinks he has a better idea of what's good for people than people do is a swine. - P.J. O'Rourke

But at the same time, we authors get many comments added to the article that refer to bugs that aren't bugs (but are misunderstandings by the reader) and people asking for help on issues unrelated to the article. The ideal solution would be able to refer a posted comment to the editor of the article. They should have the power to be able to delete rogue comments. This would allow forum clean-up without being mis-used by those who can't take a little bit of criticism. In fact, you already are given that (only requires a little research on session biscuits), provided the poster is not anonymous. The issue then is, indeed, anonymous posting.

I simply think that only registered users should be able to post messages. Registration should consist of the following steps (to avoid the use of a registration bot): 1) User registers, and must provide a valid email address. 2) The system sends a verification message to the user's email address that must be replied to. 3) When the user replies, he is granted posting/download access. 4) Accounts that go un-used for the first 14 days, or more than 90 days should be automatically deleted from the roster. An email reminder could be used to warn the user of his impending deletion from the registration database.
