O.K. we all know how those records that we loved when we were younger sound like crap now that we've gotten a bit older and slower yet some of them still manage to sound as good today as the day we first heard them. So here's a quick list in no particular order Hanx :- Stiff Little Fingers The Sensual World :- Kate Bush Live Chronicles :- Hawkwind Fresh Fruit For Rotten Vegetables :- Dead Kennedys The Lion And The Cobra :- Sinead O'Conner Surfa Rosa/Come On Pilgrim :- Pixies Violent Femmes :- Violent Femmes So what do you lot think has stood the test of time? The album should probably be around 10 years old or older to qualify pseudonym67 My Articles[^] "We're Living At The Edge Of The World And The Criticisms Coming And It's Dragging Us Down But I Wont Be Shot Down" At The Edge Stiff Little Fingers

Queen albums from the 70s. They kind of dipped a bit in the early 80s although they came back with A Kind of Magic (Which was good because Queen's 80s albums prior to that only had about one or two really good songs on it. And just don't talks to me about The Works, which contains their worst song of all time)

Oooo ... I love posts like this! OK, the following all sound fresh to me: "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" - David Bowie (1971) "Definitely Maybe" - Oasis (1994) "The Joshua Tree" - U2 (1987) "Technique" - New Order (1989) "Never Mind the Bollocks" - The Sex Pistols (1977) "Give 'Em Enough Rope" - The Clash (1978) "Loveless" - My Bloody Valentine (1989) "Screamadelica" - Primal Scream (1993) "Meat is Murder" - The Smiths (1985) I'll probably add more once I have trawled through the contents of my CD jukebox!

Well, I've just dug out The Smashing Pumpkins Gish, which seems to have aged (1991) quite well. In fact, isn't most of Nirvana's stuff at least a decade old now? :omg:

The baby - Ellie - rocks! The best thing that has happened to me since the day I met my wife! Well, I am actually getting more sleep than I expected - Ellie wakes up 2 or 3 times a night, but is soon off again once fed. Last night she was grumpy though - bad tummy - but I still managed to snatch 5 or 6 hours. I am back at work this week (working at home today though) so it will be a real test! I was worried that I wouldn't be able to continue working from home, but at the moment Ellie seems to sleep more in the day than at night, so I am getting lots of work done... we'll see if this trend continues though - she's less than 2 weeks old and has only been home for 9 days!

O.K. we all know how those records that we loved when we were younger sound like crap now that we've gotten a bit older and slower yet some of them still manage to sound as good today as the day we first heard them. The album should probably be around 10 years old or older to qualify pseudonym67 My Articles[^] "We're Living At The Edge Of The World And The Criticisms Coming And It's Dragging Us Down But I Wont Be Shot Down" At The Edge Stiff Little Fingers

and to paraphrase Nick Hornby... Cannot believe I forgot "What's going on?" by Marvin Gaye

"Machines (Back to Humans)" is the one I was talking about. Especially with the line: Its bytes and mega chips for tea What were they thinking? netclectic wrote: And don't forget Hot Space Yes, that was also a bad Queen album. But, with Hot Space they were trying to keep up with the early eighties trends and it plain didn't work. At least in the late 70s, the punk music that they also tried to fashion into their own music did complemented what they already had. From A Kind Of Magic onwards they did get better again, thankfully.
