if we have just passed 1 million then how come user http://www.codeproject.com/script/profile/whos_who.asp?id=1000541[^] already exists, but the home page say 1000041? (numbers subject to change :) )

PS user(s) 1000000 and 1000001 both seem to have blank names. Odd! In fact quite a few do.

Probably deleted user's ids don't get recovered. So there are 1,000,000 users currently registered although over the years since Code Project has been available a small number have removed themselves - or been removed ("US Marine" springs to mind as a reacent example)

maybe - but how do they determine the 1000000th member - also those empty registrations are more confusing and there do seem to be a lot of 'em

Why did you register another account? As far as I can see you already registered about two years ago. Did you want to get the CodeProject chocolates, which Chris has announced in his last newsletter? ;P Regards Thomas

I think there were a lot of bogus registration happening overnight to make 1,000,000. John

I think this number is just a high-water mark.
