Ok network gurus, is it possible to use an alternative VPNclient (other than the cisco one) to connect to a corporate VPN? I want to be able to access the machine that's connected to the VPN from other machines on my LAN. I tried checking the allow LAN access box in the properties for the current VPN client, but it seems to ignore that setting and keeps it disabled when I connect. Any ideas or am I stuck?

Did you make sure that the profile you were connecting to was not set to read-only? That sometimes happens to me with my cisco vpn client. John

After some additional poking around, I think the VPN server I'm connecting to doesn't allow LAN access to be enabled. Is this a possibility? The company this laptop belongs to has it locked down so damn tight it isn't funny. The damn screensacer locks the sytem after 3 minutes to. :wtf:

That is a possibility. It could be set up to deny split tunneling no matter how the client is set up. Makes it much more secure but is a definite pain in the butt. I'd check to see if this is the case but its looking that way. John
