It's amazing how quickly a new machine will feel slow, though. Back when 2.4GHz machines were new (a year and a half ago or so?) my company got me one for development. And MAN did it ever scream. Within a month, I found myself getting impatient with my build times. Yeah, they were almost 10x faster than my previous system, but you adjust to that quick. Now the damn thing feels like molasses going up a hill.

I know what you mean, and I have tried it several times when getting new computer... But... The one I have had for the last year or so is still pretty fast, and I actually never feel that it's slow. Dual Xeon 2.8GHz with HyperThreading (WinXP say 4 CPU's ;) ) 2x WD Caviar disks in RAID0 on a promise controller 1GB Ram nVidia Geforce TI4400 and 2x 17" Samsung TFT monitors It almost never feel slow, and no matter what it's working on its always responsive and waiting for more :-D - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!" On a single processor multible threads dont run at the same time, as they do when you have multible cpu's... Trust me, it makes huge differences sometimes ;) - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!" ShotKeeper, my Photo Album / Organizer Application[^]
