Mine does it too if I get it close to my CTX monitor (CRT). My work flat screen does not care... Steve

I can tell when the nextel phones we use are going to ring a full 1 or 2 seconds in advance by the monitor shaking. Scary huh?:wtf:

Yeah, any speakers my phone is near do this du-du-du sound. I can tell if someone is calling me because the distortion sounds are different

My first cell phone years ago would do that to my truck speakers. I would set the phone in the ashtray right under the stereo. I'd get this duh-duh-duh sound through my speakers about 2 seconds before the phone would ring. Jeff Martin Triple20 Software

A little off-topic but interference related.... When I am wearing my headphones on my laptop and using my wireless card I can hear the data being downloaded as background noise because the headphone jack is right next to the wireless card PCMCIA slot. Maybe one day I will tell them my monitor wobbles when a call is incoming. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Christopher Duncan quoted: "...that would require my explaining Einstein's Fear of Relatives" Crikey! ain't life grand? CRTs are electromagnetic devices; electrons are ejected from the cathode and steered to hit the proper phospher targets by magnetic fields. Anything that emits electromagnetic fields will affect them. Cell phones, ham radios, desktop fans - anything with a motor or other source of magnetic field will interfere with the aiming circuits. I'm surprised that a cell phone can produce that strong of a magnetic field, but apparently they do. You can have a lot of fun with a dumb user and a refrigerator magnet...:) Some people think of it as a six-pack; I consider it more of a support group.

Someone may want to approach his phone (wether normal or cell phone) to a monitor. While most modern phones don't use magnetic pieces anymore, some phones still have magnetic speakers. Just as a warning, for anyone that wants to try, don't approach anything magnetic from your CRT. You'll see some beautiful, distorted, lysergic colors, but it may be for the last time... I see dumb people
