Is there a free utility to print more than one page of a pdf document to a single sheet of paper -- you know so I could get pages 1 and 2 on the same page and save paper, etc... There used to be a nifty one for linux (psutils or something like that). Searched google, but all the pdf online converters expect me to pay and that's not going to happen... What type of printer do you have? Printer drivers often have that setting. (For example... for my particular printer, if I right click the printer and go to "Printing Preferences", the option for how many pages to print on each side of paper is there on the first tab. ) Sometimes I feel like I'm a USB printer in a parallel universe.

My drivers have the Handout option on the features tab which allows this. In fact, all my HP drivers have it (LaserJet, DeskJet and PhotoSmart - I didn't check the DesignJet). Maybe just need a new driver? Drew.

I just printed a 149 page manual on a Xerox DC 240/255/265 PCL5e back to back. I guess I saved some trees.. Or may be not, as I work in the printing press manufacturing industry. We encourage people to buy and read more newspaper/magazines!!!:-D prashu

Printer drivers for my old HP DeskJet 710 allow me to print multiple pages on one sheet of paper but doesn't allow me to print on both sides of paper! I think there was a utility called FinePrint 2000 which installed a virtual printer driver and allowed you to do both (print multiple pages on one sheet as well as print on both sides) but I think it wasn't free. That's what I was trying to remember! We used it at a previous job I was at and it works well with any printer since it uses a FILE: printer device, IIRC, and then relegates control to the printer you specify after modifying the output however you want.

On the print dialog select the button "Preferences" then there's a drop-down box on the resulting dialog marked "Pages per sheet". It goes up to 16 but what you save in paper at that level you lose in opticians appointments ;-) '--8<------------------------ Ex Datis: Duncan Jones Merrion Computing Ltd
