Didn't they ask for suggestions to be posted on their site? ;P Chris Meech We're more like a hobbiest in a Home Depot drooling at all the shiny power tools, rather than a craftsman that makes the chair to an exacting level of comfort by measuring the customer's butt. Was Elite ( the game ) ever on PC ? Man, that would have sucked. PC's were so lame at the time, compared to my mighty Amiga. I played that game non stop for months, it was SO good. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

To keep the thread hijacked: I recall playing Elite at a friend's MSX. But I didn't like the game... Due to technical difficulties my previous signature, "I see dump people" will be off until further notice. Too many people were thinking I was talking about them... :sigh:

Well, that's because MSX sucked, and Elite was such a phenomenon, it got ported to every computer in existence. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

Elite on the PC was ok, better on the Amiga. But then they brought out the "sequel" awhile back to Elite on the PC and man, that sucked. I remember not being able to take off due to a bug in the game. So they patched it and I was able to take off, only I was suddenly able to fly through the planet too, so negating the need to take off. I went back to Privateer at the point and fondly remembered Elite as it originally was. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Christopher Duncan quoted: "...that would require my explaining Einstein's Fear of Relatives" Crikey! ain't life grand? The Atari ST version was the definitive version IMHO.

But then they brought out the "sequel" awhile back to Elite Frontier? Bah, talk about disappointment. I remember looking forward to that for ages. Then it came out, then I bought it, and played it, and ... :sigh:

I played that game non stop for months, it was SO good. There were two versions. One was the original Elite (like the BBC/Spectrum version) which I played on my Amstrad 1512 - way back in '89. There was a second version Elite+ which was closer to the Amiga version. The original version was the best. If you wanted to further info. I recommend Ian Bell's Elite Home page[^] Ian, along with David Braben wrote the originally BBC Elite. You can also download pretty much every version of Elite there was.
