You could view the directory in explorer, hit alt-prtscrn, paste it into paintbrush and print it from there!

Do you know about the TREE command?

      TREE /F /A > output.txt

(or to some other output) Regards, Jeff Varszegi EEEP!  An Extensible Expression Evaluation Package

I've often done this myself, but if your directory has lots of files it can be a pain. Regards, Jeff Varszegi EEEP!  An Extensible Expression Evaluation Package

There used to be a DOS command like this. I would suggest looking for that. Though, there may be a problem and it'll print the files in 8.3 format.

Even thopugh I agree with Mr. Raymond about the necessity of such a document, his desire to compete with Mr Stephen King for excessiveness and lack of priorities makes the given link fairly useless. OTOH IMOPHO the problem was described adequately.

You could also paste it into excel. I mean, excel can everything, why not print the files in a directory.

ESR still doesn't get it. You're supposed to claim that it's not possible. Then the geeks/nerds/defender of the technology, will jump in and offer solutions in perfect detail. This works especially well if you need help with Linux stuff. Just get on IRC and join #linux or whatever and claim that "X is crap. It can't do Y nor Z". Try it sometimes and you'll be amazed. :) -- Booohoo!

This sounds like a great CP article - just make sure you write it in .NET or everyone will think it is worthless. Shell integration with Right-click support for printing directories. Could come in very useful.

Let me re-phrase the queston. A couple years ago I came across a shareware program that would print a list of file names (the names, not the contents of the file) that were contained in a specified directory. Does anyone know what this program was called, or where I can find it? Sorry, It was somewhat vague. And maybe it should have been in the General Discussion area.

JD Design[^] has Print Directory (I think that's what it's called. I bought the suite back in 1999 though rarely use that item.
