Only in sections of the midwest is it called Pop. To say the midwest calls it pops involves everyone one from the midwest and I know for a fact growing up in the midwest I called it soda; and pop was what the people on the other half of the state called it. Cheers, -Erik

There was a page I was sent long ago called the Pop vs. Soda page. It's here: clickety Shows that "Coke" is mainly the South, Soda is mainly the North-East, and Pop is mainly in the Mid-West.
