AP exam today

I have my AP computer science exam today (in fact, I leave in 10 minutes). Normally I'd call this a happy thing, except this year they switched from C++ to java (God knows why). Right now I'm wishing I knew a little more java! Major cramming happened last night... ;) Wish me luck! If you have a problem with my spelling, just remember that's not my fault. When I took my AP exam my class was in Pascal... I don't remember if the test itself was in a particular language, but if it was it was probably Pascal as well. I think Java is a good language to learn OO skills... I just missed the Java boom in school, but I think it would remove some of the stumbling blocks C/C++ provide. Oh, and if you read this after you take the test and you feel like you tanked it, don't worry too much--I felt like I did pretty poorly and I ended up with a 5. Good luck!

Graduation is getting close huh Brian? - Nick Parker
My Blog | My ArticlesKinda... Finished my exams on May 17th and I have my FYP (Final Year Project) demo on the 20th... Finished then.. Yahoo!!!!... I'll find out what degree I get on June 4th but I'll be in Germany then so I'll have to get somebody to check my result for me. Is it a different way of doing high school or college or is it a difference in Europe? Just kinda confused. Here in the states you decide what degree you are heading for and take the necessary classes. Then when you have completed the courses and feel you're ready you "apply" to graduate and they give you your degree if your application is approved. Just curious. How does that work? Those sound like some hard hitting classes. How do you not know what degree you are getting? Is it a different way of doing high school or college or is it a difference in Europe? Just kinda confused. Here in the states you decide what degree you are heading for and take the necessary classes. Then when you have completed the courses and feel you're ready you "apply" to graduate and they give you your degree if your application is approved. Just curious. Brain: What he means is he doesn't know what class of degree he'll get. It's like saying, I know I'm getting a CS degree but I don't know what my GPA will be until after the exams. In the UK (at least when I did mine), your degree class isn't really known until your final exams are graded. You get a First (like a 4.0 GPA), a 2:1, a 2:2, 3rd, pass. Unlike the US, you don't usually accumulate a grade as you go along. So you can do nothing for 4 years and kick ass on the finals and still get a 4.0 (I know this from experience!).

Man that sucks. I joined a fraternity in school and sucked bad for my first two years. I spent the next two acing everything and trying to dig myself out of the ditch. haha... you took it too? I thought it was more like 45% inheritance. Maybe that means I didn't do so good :~. I was actually suprised with the ease of the questions compared to what college board posted as sample questions. I was really glad I happened to randomly decide to learn about the ArrayList last night! (In fact, for all intents and purposes I learned all my java last night.) They announced this at the beginning of the year, however our class as a whole decided that it wasn't worth our time and kept with C++. It's kinda silly to have it in java when you can't even make an executable with java... If you have a problem with my spelling, just remember that's not my fault.
