    well... linux easy? not a chance thats for damn sure but... i finally found a good distro for people who just want to use their computer rather than spend all their lives fiddling with it ... morpix (i think thats how its spelt) still not easy and talk about dll hell??? what about pkg hell!!! i think im finally getting there but there is NO WAY id give up my gorgeous xp laptop for day to day stuff thats for damn sure

                try morphix and do the hard disk install it kinda is usable :) *makes a note never to knock windows again*

                          I hear that alot about Slackware. Is it that much better than Redhat?? I have only used Redhat. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

                            oh well *sigh* i tried to upgrade a package and it all went south *gets out the install cd again* :suss:

                              • where editing the /etc/hostname file doesn't actually change the host name at all :confused:. You have to change /etc/nodename for that...
                              • where NTP very rarely works properly :mad:
                              • where if you have a terminal window spewing out lots of information, the system clock can lose half a second every second. The problem is the that the clock-tick interrupt has lower (!!) priority than most other interrupts in the system :rolleyes:

                              Personally, I'd prefer using a hair dryer as my OS but hey, whatever takes your fancy :)

                                I would recommend gentoo, it is the solution to package hell, yes it does take some tolerence to install, hey you know exactly whats its doing though. -Steven Hicks
