Does the subwoofer on your battery give you advance warning of power drain? Or is it just that your battery likes to brag also?

Damn that sounds grand. How much did it cost? I am finally sucumbing to getting a personal machine and am torn between a laptop or a desktop. So any and all options are welcome. I know this was probably in jest, but the subwoofer is not a part of the battery.

Those pesky Web sites! I looked on Dell's site for the Inspiron being talked about and it listed the battery in one section, and the subwoofer in another. I just assumed it was a type-o on the OP's part. Oh well... [edit] Here is a detailed picture: http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/systems/insxps/sm/woofer.htm#1006368 [/edit]

$2,900 The battery life is not the best from what I've seen posted on some review sites. I do not need battery only power very often though. I just need the portability.

Sweet machine. Nice pick for a portable desktop replacement. It can kick the butt of most desktops out there, and you do have upgradeable graphics. Everybody's griping about the $400 service fee, but I'm thinking it won't be that hard to do it yourself-- just don't tell Dell or you might void the warranty. You know what you should buy now? Something like VirtualDrive. I spent 80 dollars on the "Pro" version, with which I've been perfectly happy; it's some of the best-made software I've had the pleasure of using in a long time. It'll let you avoid swapping CDs for CD-required programs, improve the load and run times of same, and also improve your battery life since you'll avoid spinning the extra spindle.

Way ahead of you. I've been using Alcohol 120% for over a year now. All my games and software are stored on my 700GB server (5 hard drives). I hate having to keep track of CD/DVDs.
