Hello, I am planning to by a mobile phone and subscribe to a cellular service. What are some of the best mobile phones (makes and models) today? I hear Nokia is best. Who offers the best, most reliable celluar service? Price is not a problem given that the service is best. AT&T? Where is a good place to buy find these mobile phone(s) and service(s)? I know someone who went with Verizon. I think the phone is also made by Verizon. Either the phone is bad or the service is bad because there is heavy static when talking from long distance such as out-of-state (say Las Vegas to Los Angeles). The reason I am asking this questions is because of the bad experience described above. Thanks, Kuphryn
Well in the U.S. I have had success with ATT and T-mobile, as far as reception goes they are the best IMHO. I have gotten all my phones online, b/c that is where I have found the best deals. http://www.attws.com[^] http://www.tmobile.com[^] HTH

However, there are more and more new players in the market now and most of their phones are as good as nokias'. That said, Motorola's are also pretty darn tough :) They look a bit flimsy though.

Make a list of all the features you need. Things like good signal strength in areas where you exist, a microphone that can pick up your voice without having to be yelled at, etc. Make another list of all the features you don't need, but would like. Things like calendars/text messaging/etc. Make a list of all the phone/service combinations that match all the requirements in list #1, and note how many they cover in list #2. Make your decision, based on price and bonus features. The bees will find their honey; The sweetest every time...

The sound of a phone right is really annoying. It'd be nice to have an interface that lights up in the dark (very easy to see buttons, etc). Kuphryn

I live in Scotland and have worked in various European countries and I can't say I've ever had a bad connection. I'll admit to occasionally having the connection dropped because of the local geography, like going through a tunnel, or there being a remote blind spot due to a mountain range (The last time I was in the Highlands the only time I couldn't get a connection was when I was in the back of beyond and it was a mile to the nearest inhabited building). but these incidents are few and far between. Make a list of all the features you need. I have had 2 Motorola's, one for about 3-4 years and the second one about 8-9 mths. They've both been great. The first one still works actually, I bought I second one because I thought I lost the other one. Most places will offer a phone with the plan, either for free or under $50. These phones generally have all the features I've seen you list elsewhere ++. My sister was with Verizon and had trouble also. I use Alltel, and rarely have any issues. I found out more information from the person I mentioned whose mobile phone and service is really bad. Model: LG Service: Verizon I hear very good response for Verizon. So I think the main problem is the LG mobile phone. It is no good! I will go with Verizon or Cingular service and definitely Nokia phone. Nokia seems simple and works great. Kuphryn
