Oh yeah, also "Fawlty Towers". Too bad they did not make too many of those. Pankaj Without struggle, there is no progress

Tricky I'm quite enjoying "Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps" at the moment, which is good, if very juvenile humour :-) I'd say "Little Britain" was probably the most consistently funny series I've ever seen. "Red Dwarf" and "Futurama" would probably be my other choices - both are sometimes hit-and-miss at times (and series 7 and 8 of Red Dwarf were almost entirely "miss", as was a lot of Futurama series 4 and the episode "The Deep South" :-()

If you can include animation, my vote is for South Park ! There are no failures.. only extended learning opportunities.
Yeah, some of the South Park episodes have been really funny. However, I got tired of it after a while. "Simpsons" and "Futurama" are quite a different story though. Pankaj Without struggle, there is no progress

I started thinking about all the TV programmes that I actually like (not just comedy) and about what channels they are on. I have come to the conclusion that ITV is just full of mindless drivel. It is a commercial channel and must make its money from advertising, unlike the BBC, and I can't think of a single program that I would go out of my way to watch, and I can't think of much that I would stop and watch if I was channel hopping (probably the odd film, but that's about it). So, who watches all that mindless crap? I know realise why, when ever I see adverts on the TV, I get an urge to run down to the shops and buy all the products I've just seen, even if they are of no use to me. I have no built up immunity to them. (I stopped my Sky subscription last year also, so I don't get that anymore either)

Channel 4 does reasonably well, and Channel 5 has it's moments too. Colin Angus Mackay wrote: So, who watches all that mindless crap? People who like soap operas? ITV seems to do well on that front. Ian Darling wrote: Strange - I don't feel the same way at all- I don't think I fit into any known marketing demographic to speak of Neither do I really. I think it has to do with the fact that I watch about 2 hours of TV a week, and most of that is on the BBC so I don't see many adverts at all. So, unless the advert really irritates me I feel compelled to at least try the product. Usually, my budget constraints prevent me from actually wasting any money. Ian Darling wrote: I don't fit into the Lifestyle thing that I'm apparently meant to belong to I'm currently on a DIY kick at the moment, but that has less to do with any "Lifestyle" thing and more do to with making my own space after a disasterous relationship. Actually that advert with wassisname from "Men Behaving Badly" is one that really irritates me.
