Anybody get up for the big meteor "storm"? My kids wanted to see it so we all woke up at 4:30 and went out on the front lawn to watch. Watched for about 45 minutes then all decided to go back to bed. We saw probably 2 dozen very bright ones. Not quite a storm, but entertaining enough I suppose. Yes I watched between 1:45-2:30 here in San Francisco. It was the most active storm I have ever seen, probably peeking around 800 events per hour. Thats pretty good, especially since the city lights are so powerful. I was really hoping to see a constant stream (I have seen pictures that look like jumping to warp speed in star wars). Oh well Chris

I work at night on the weekends, and went outside at 5am after a night of eager waiting. If there was a nice meteor shower, *I* didn't see it thanks to a thick fog hanging on the ground (there is *never* a thick fog hanging on the ground around here!) Oh well... :suss: -Jason

Was great here. Went out about 5:30. Meteor rate was 4-5 per minute with some very bright ones. By far the best show We've ever seen! Ed

I remember the last one I had the pleasure of seeing... it was around '92 when I lived on an airport (Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada). The runways formed a triangle and I lay somewhere in the middle of it, staring up at a thousand million stars. In the middle of the country, on my back, dead silence, alone... and shooting stars whizzing by... That's quite an experience for an 11-year old. AAMOF, I was *scared to death*. :suss: -Jason

Yeah, I heard about the meteor storm. It sounded like the most of it happened in the early morning ET time .. I'm in Italy this month and don't think I'd be able to see it during the day.. bet it was a good site (they said the meteor storm of the century). Travis D. Mathison --- --- After three days without programming .. life becomes meaningless ...

Maybe that will help to ease the pain a little: http://www.spaceweather.com/meteors/gallery_18nov01.html It seems that Hawaii was the place this year: 1250 Leonid meteors per hour
