Dell Laptops

If money wasn't a concern, which model of Dell laptop would you choose? Also, as an aside, what is the performance difference between a laptop that contains: A) Intel Pentium 4 Processor with HT Technology at 2.80GHz and 800MHz Front Side Bus versus B) Intel Pentium M Processor at 1.50GHz and 400MHz Front Side Bus Basically, I'm trying to decide if I should purchase an Inspiron 9100 or an Inspiron 8600. Or any reason I should pick a different one? By the way, I'll basically be using it as "a desktop for a remote location" so small size and being as lightweight as possible isn't a concern for me. :-D -- Edward Livingston (aka ExtraLean) -- "I still maintain that seeing a nipple is far less disturbing than seeing someone get their brains blown out." -- Chris Maunder

Well I've had a 9100 for about a month now and love it. It's big, really big, but I find it manageable. Basiclly I use it as my desktop and take it to and from work on a daily basis and use it as my primary machine. The performance is great (I noticed no drop from a 3.0Ghz desktop), the 9100 is a 3.2. The mobile Radeon 9700 is awesome and pretty much have been able to play the same games I have been playing on my desktop. The biggest negitive I have is the power supply, it's amazingly huge and I have a bit of a problem carrying it to and from work. I want to get a second one and it will solve the problem. I was going through the same thing and mainly decided with the 9100 cause I wanted the speed and performance even if I had give up portability (You can't rest it on your lap really with 3 fans on the bottom but it works great on a sturdy TV tray.) P.S. The ability to support dual monitors (DVI and VGA) was a very cool thing that I didn't find on any other laptop....
