WiMP 10 beta out

I think MS has been pretty quiet about the WMP 10 beta, but it was released yesterday and you can get it right here[^] :) It only runs on XP, unfortunately. --Mike-- Personal stuff:: Ericahist | Homepage Shareware stuff:: 1ClickPicGrabber | RightClick-Encrypt CP stuff:: CP SearchBar v2.0.2 | C++ Forum FAQ ---- Four fonts walk into a bar. I'll have to give it a try on our test machines. I hope they finally synchronized (or simply just reflected) changes to ID3-type information in the media library and the ID3/persistent storage set information in the files themselves. I always found that incredibly annoying. Call me anal, but I like keeping everything highly organized on my drive.

Been trying it out for the last few hours and it is neatened up but a bit dodgy in it's prerelease. For instance the best feature of WMP9, the taskbar player, works very strangely now (start playing something when maximised, then minimise and you can't control it with the taskbar player. You have to open the playlist with the taskbar player to get any control. Might be an option I am missing but it is strange.) regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Ian Darling wrote: "and our loonies usually end up doing things like Monty Python." Are you talking about the album/artist/etc. problems? It drives me nuts. I use Winamp most of the time because when I make the changes to an artist/album/etc. in MP9 it's not really changing the underlying information, plus I always end up with two versions of an album. Same artist, same album, but 1 track under 1 album, the rest under a seperate one. I love the Media Player library but it drives me bonkers! Brian "In the beginning the Universe was created. Besides it, supporting more environments means bigger costs with development, support & QA. Yes, even I am blogging now!

Besides it, supporting more environments means bigger costs with development, support & QA. Ah, a view even more cynical than mine. Well, the fact that Windows 2000 is pretty much the same OS as Windows XP in most respects would be one reason. If they no longer supported 9X/Me, I can maybe buy that one. But not supporting 2000? I mean, 2000 is only 4 years old. This is along the same lines as only providing IE updates through service packs and new OSes. It will end up alienating alot of their customers and possibly helping competitors (Mozilla, Real, etc.) "Fish and guests stink in three days." - Benjamin Franlkin

Navin wrote: I'd rather use Windows Media player than Real I'd never let Real touch my machine, but VLC (VideoLanClient) is getting better at each version, and it's a good alternative when you have some codec nightmare. They just need a polished interface (today, the UI sucks) and it'll become a very good alternative, at least, in the same sense as Firefox is a very good alternative to IE. MS is just letting them to catch up, I can't understand why. MS more and more looks like IBM two decades ago, when losed all of its market to MS. Yes, even I am blogging now!

At home I use Zone Alarm to stop Real Player misbehaving but not sure if you could do that at work. Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

i dont think they want to build longhorn stuff into it i personally see nothing in longhorn that changes my world ... its eye candy and a way to force upgrades of both software and hardware so that corporations can make another round of profits selling people different looking same old same old to do the same jobs that they are doing now what? is word for longhorn going to tell me jokes while i type documents? is that going to change my world??? thats my problem with windows generally and why i hope to god linux DOESNT follow the longhorn mindset [edit] in case u havnt been following my posts i have been running linux on an old laptop for the past 3 weeks while my main computer is away being repaired ... this laptop cant run windows but it runs linux and everything i need to do my job ... and for free ... thats a good thing as far as i am concerned [/edit]

Does anyone know if WMP 10 will let users rewind live internet radio streams and pause? I use wmp for music but i like to listen to radio stations in the UK, i can listen to a station on both real and wmp but i can rewind the live broadcast. If they put this in wmp 10 i would be happy, since you cant rewind on Real's free player, you have to pay.
