Riemann hypothesis solved ?

http://news.com.com/Riemann+hypothesis+may+have+been+solved+at+Purdue/2100-7348_3-5229702.html[^] When Andrew Wiles (who published the proof for Fermat's last Theorem) was asked in 1995 which was the greatest unsolved puzzle still left in the world (after proving Fermat's theorem) he said it was the Riemann hypothesis. This may now have been solved ! I'm really interested in reading this especially since I only understood small parts of Prof Wiles' proof (and was disappointed). Maybe I can do better with this one "I believe I referred to her personality as a potential science exhibit." - Elaine, about Ellen, in "The Dog"

Did you find the Wiles proof somewhere online? btw <-----------------------read this-----------------------> From: Bob Silverman (anonymous@mathforum.org) Subject: DeBranges and RH Newsgroups: sci.math Date: 2004-06-09 11:10:02 PST FYI Jun 9 DeBranges has just claimed a proof of RH...... (but of course, he has claimed this before) <-------------------end of read this-------------------> Vote for me! http://www.codeproject.com/netcf/TabletPC.asp http://www.codeproject.com/netcf/ShakyVoice.asp

I'm not sure if you can find it online. Infact the only part that I could understand was the Kolyvagin Flach theorem and the way it was used and this was because my mom was a number theorist and she explained that to me one school summer when I had nothing to do :) Ultimately it was this part that caused the initial proof to fail and he ended up using a whole different method to cover that section of the proof. If you live near some university I'm sure they will have a copy. But be warned its nearly 100 pages and you won't get it unless you've done a lot of work in number theory. For general reading I'd recommend Simon Singh's "Fermat's Enigma". That's a nice book about the proof.
