Have you ever had T-Mobile? Did you like it? My cell phone history: 2.5 Years ago I had a Verizon phone and it was perfect. They didn't drop one call in 2 years. In 2 years I could not find a location it didn't work from. And then I got cheap and switched to Sprint PCS... and I thought it was so-so. Did I learn my lesson? Nooooooo. I just got a T-Mobile phone today, and you will never guess how many calls have dropped for me so far... 5 out of 6!!!!:wtf: It took me over an hour to transfer my phone number cause I kept on getting disconnected. And the quality was bad, couldn't hear what they were saying half the time. Then I thought may be it's just the service number and called a friend... call got dropped. :( I have 30 days to play around with this worthless piece of junk. I have a feeling I will be transfering to Verizon in a week. May be it's the storm we had an hour ago (Novi, MI). Elena

As a rule of thumb, never accept the best deal. I've spent a fair bit of my professional life negotiating contracts, and a valuable lesson I learned is that if you receive ten bids on a proposal, 2 will be very low, two will be very high, and six will tend to cluster around a median. The ones at the top end don't want the work - they're too busy to care whether they win or not. The ones in the middle have taken the time to study the proposal and respond with their best estimate. The cheap ones either didn't understand the question, or plan to make up their losses in change orders or court actions. T-Mobile has some great plans to offer but, as you've discovered, the service received sucks. They fall into the cheap 20% category. SprintPCS is one that falls in the middle category, I think, but on the low end of the scale. The quality is great, when it works at all, but the coverage area sucks. If you're in an area they serve, you'll get a great signal, but if you're in a rural area you will have nothing at all. Verizon seems to fall into the upper end of the middle category; they own their own network and have excellent coverage in the markets that interest them. Unfortunately, my town is not interesting to them. I have heard great reviews from people who use CellularOne here, and most of them travel a lot. They report excellent service and coverage from all parts of the US. You might want to check them out before you sign another service agreement. Some people think of it as a six-pack; I consider it more of a support group.

Deutsche Telekom (and their daughters, one of which is T-Mobile) is the classic "free market does not work always" example. let's just say their nickname is "Telekomiker" (Telecomedians)
we are here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is Vonnegut jr.

My experience was the opposite, had Verizion before, and hated it. Missed too many calls (the phone didn't ring at all). T-Mobile works great. No extra change for voicemail, the most minutes per buck. Note however that t-mobile seems to have the largest digital coverage of anyone in MN. (I don't know how to check, I just know I got service when everyone else is analog or has none) Nationally their network might not be as good. It is a case of your milage varies.

I signed up w/ Powertel, which was bought by VoiceStream, which became T-Mobile. I had that service for 2 years. My coverage was always excellent if I was in a major city or on the interstate. Unfortunately, I lived in a rural area and had very spotty coverage around my little town. The last plan I had with them had the most bang for the buck (3000 minutes for $49.99) and you didn't have to worry if it is the weekend or after 9pm. Didn't have a lot of dropped calls, unless I went out of the coverage area. I have Verizon now and love it. Great coverage in all areas. Jeff Martin Triple20 Software

roflmao, omg, you just described my recent cellphone history %100. I was with AT&T for nearly 4 years and it worked perfectly everywhere. Never a dropped call, never a problem. But about 6 months ago I got cheap and dropped at&t for sprint PCS. This POS drops calls all the time, has terrible reception quality and flat out doesn't work in half the places I go. Their commercials about 'free and clear quality' are utter crap. I may buy my way out of the contract and go back to AT&T or whoever it was that bought them out. I've learned my lesson.

Hi Elena, I was using T-Mobile in the UK on a pre-pay contract back when they were One2One. Suffice it to say that I was so impressed with their coverage and customer service that I'm now with Vodafone (via One-Tel)... X| I wouldn't recommend them in the UK, and if your experience is anything to go by the same applies in the US. Good luck finding an alternative that actually works. :rose: Anna :rose: Homepage | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. I came to the conclusion that T-Mobile both sucks and blows... ;) For some reason I get the impression that their corporate objective is to provide worse service than both BT and NTL combined on a bad day in Tiverton. Scary. :~ Anna :rose: Homepage | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up.
