Spain or Portugal

Well looks like the first heavy weight is going to exit the tournament. Who do you think it'll be ? Or will Portugal win and Greece lose to the Russains letting them both through (nyeah!) "I believe I referred to her personality as a potential science exhibit." - Elaine, about Ellen, in "The Dog"

Hurray for Numo Gomes. Pauleta's been playing so poor lately I don't know why he didn't get more mins earlier. Hope he starts against England (or am I looking ahead too much ?) "I believe I referred to her personality as a potential science exhibit." - Elaine, about Ellen, in "The Dog"

No doubt that France will beat Swit. after that hiccup against Croatia. I don't really like England's chances unless they play keep ball better. Whoever comes out second in that group Portugal should be able to beat them. I really like Portugal's chances. Its about time they did something with all the talent they have :) Good luck "I believe I referred to her personality as a potential science exhibit." - Elaine, about Ellen, in "The Dog"

Croatia also is a tough team to beat, they have good technique and they like to enervate their adversaries with some dubious tactics. Portugal has a huge flaw, they don't known how to shoot and score goals , it's a portuguese reality. Our forwards don't have that much quality ... like France , Czech Republic , Italia and so on ... Its true that Portugal don't have any good strikers. That's astonishing really when you consider the quality of midfield and their highly underrated defence especially Andrade who I think is an awesome defender. I was suprised at how well Croatia played. France had genuine problems keeping the ball against them! I think they have an excellent chance of beating England. But really I don't rate either of those teams against Portugal. I think you guys should get through just fine. That will make for really exciting attacking semifinals ! I think one of the things that holds great promise for you is that your team is mostly young (esp players like Ronaldo and Deco.. even Pauleta is quite young). So the end of the Golden Generation is not going to leave a gap like it did for France post 80's. Tell you what .. I've traditionally supported Italia for over 10 years. If they fail to make it out of the group tom. I'll back Portugal with you the rest of the way ! In India you like more the cricket, right ? And since you have a american degree ? , it's even more suprising, usually the footballl isn't very popular in the US. How can you like so much football, just for curiosity ? I'm trully suprised, albeit since talking here on Code Project it's normal to be suprised by this immense diversity of smart people all around the world . Yeah well most people in India play cricket. I started watching football with Italia 90. That tournament totally blew my mind ! That Italy team was probably the strongest I've ever seen (pity they didn't make it to the final). I also got hooked on Maldini (his tremendous, clean tackling and surging runs!). So I started playing footballm, became pretty good and even made it to a professional club when I was 16. Unfortunately that was the last of that. Quit so I could go to a good college (in India), I did play there but that was low grade. Once I'd finished college I came here to Utah for a graduate degree. Nowadays I only play on weekends with some South Americans here. But the old love remains. You'd have to look faaar and wide to find a more rabid Italia supporter than me :-D "I believe I referred to her personality as a potential science exhibit." - Elaine, about Ellen, in "The Dog"
