WTF??? Why must the same old stories be retold instead of coming up with something new. How difficult could it be to create a new hero uniquely Indian with no ties to anything Western?? :sigh: BW The Biggest Loser

:-D Were I an artist, and in tune India and Indian culture, I'm sure I could dream up something other than Spider-Man. At least, I'm pretty sure I could ;) BW The Biggest Loser

I saw video clips of Spiderman at Taj Mahal and some other Indian landmarks, aired by some news channel. Looked quite OK to me, but prolly 'cos I was never particularly interested in the comic. Regards Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach

Never heard of Hanuman, looks interesting. I guess I just get tired of hearing how people are pissed at American culture taking over the world or something like that, and then seeing Spidey being warped into fitting another culture. Just make up something new, it isn't as though there is nothing to draw from culturally/historically/creatively/etceterally, like Hanuman. BW The Biggest Loser

Spiderman, Superman, Batman and all other such men failed to raise any interest in my reading ever. They are not just meant for kids I think, and when I tried these out I was just a kid, and that prolly was why I did not find them particularly interesting. And when I grew up I never bothered to try reading them again. Cheers Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach

I think its because most Bollywood actors play the same character in all their movies anyway so a sequel would be redundant. Also these movies typically end with all loose ends tied up to satisfaction and the lead pair is married off (You can't do interesting stuff after getting married: thats a Bollywood rule). Other smaller movie industries in India (like in Kerala) have sequels appearing occasionally. --------------------------------------------------
