Just watched a Hawk scoop up a squirl and fly up into the tree outside my window. While I was looking saw a nice bolt of lightning a couple of miles away! Mother Nature… "The Greatest Show on Earth".

I saw my ex's two pet cats chase a wild rabbit around the garden. Guess who had to rescue the rabbit. Yes, I had to run out in to the garden and chase the cats. I managed to get one and pick it up by the scruff where the mother would carry it and I was chasing the other while still holding on to the first cat while my ex was wailing about the poor rabbit. That is what cats do! But she wouldn't accept that. Rant over - normal service is resumed, sorry for any interuption

Thank you for sharing that. Let me stare harder at my cubicle walls. Maybe I can see some pattern form with my tired eyes :(( "I believe I referred to her personality as a potential science exhibit." - Elaine, about Ellen, in "The Dog"
Did I mention that I am on holiday all this week? :-D If you vote me down, my score will only get lower

"On July 22, several young men chased a small bear and one tried to pick it up to take a picture with it. The bear bit the visitor. Shortly thereafter another young visitor hit the bear with a stick while holding a knife, as friends videotaped him." Mr. Coward, meet my friend Mr. Baseball Bat to The Testicles  The tigress is here :-D

City people should have to get a permit to visit parks etc. This is just becoming too frequent. Next we'll seeing people protesting about how lions in Africa are killing other animals. Regardz Colin J Davies

palbano wrote: Mother Nature… "The Greatest Show on Earth". Indeed!:-D I just returned from a day lounging beside the lake with a lovely lady and her puppy. I'm fried, of course, but had a ball teaching the dog to swim. A Labrador takes naturally to water, but it was her first time, and coaxing her to go deeper than her toes would touch took some sneaky tricks. Even more hilarious was watching the boaters launch and recover their watercraft. Did you know that you are supposed to drift broadside into your trailer, or that you have to clear the water from your stern drive by revving the motor for a few minutes on dry land?:laugh::laugh: Today's comedy, tomorrow's customer at the boat shop. It just doesn't get better than this!:-D Some people think of it as a six-pack; I consider it more of a support group.

That lightning strike earlier started a wildfire so that is the top news here this afternoon. We get powerful thunder storms here in the high desert. At a local lake years ago I saw a boat sink when the stern was swamped by the waves caused from the high winds of a thunderstorm. This occurred at the boat ramp as the owners attempted to get the craft onto the trailer. This was just a 18 foot ski boat mind you but the water was so violent that the 5 or so people could not control it enough to get it onto the trailer.

I live near Fall Creek in the East Central Indiana countryside. There is a never ending display of nature all around us. My favorite is a Great Blue Heron that lumbers past our house at least once or twice a day. Incredible bird. Must have a six foot wing span and all gangly looking. I also often see it standing in the creek, catching fish. Absolutely beautiful.

Yes, and no, they are an introduced species, so I'm all for culling cats, feral ones anyway, the others should be teased on a regular basis. :-D But the culling should be done in a humane way. "Ergo huffabo et puffabo et tuam domum inflabo" ait magnus malus lupus.

Funny you should mention that because we were sitting on our back deck reading a book today and out of the corner of my eye I saw something moving in the corner of the yard, I look up and it's a young black bear. He stops, looks at me then boots it down the hillside to the river behind our house. I think he was after the apples on the tree. Downside is now my wife won't want to leave the patio door open to our bedroom at night (she's scared of bears) and I'm going to roast in this heat. Maybe I'll have to find some way to lock it half open or something. Our property is right on a hill overlooking a river and swampy area beside it and we get rabbits, more bald eagles than you can shake a stick at, hawks, crows, loons, ducks, deer (pain in the butt), now bears. It's like a zoo out here. I wish I could afford to fence the whole property, wildlife *sounds* cool and all, but it's not when it's in your face every day.
