I'm really not sure of the exact state of Canada... although I must say that 'she' has been an excellent 'friend' in that she supplied help when it was most needed. In fact, Canada has supplied many a decent man to protect the idea of international democracy around the globe. --------------------------------------------- Help... I'm embedded and I can't get out! I've been trying to sort out a memebership issue with a certain large care rental company and they couldn't find my details in their system. The operator decided that she'd just try a brute force search, so said "I'll just look up everyone in the state of Canada" cheers, Chris Maunder

Unless I'm mistaken, Canada is a state as much as the US is (a state being a country, yes, the U.S. is a federation of States, that agree to let federal gov. do the business of dealing with the world and cohession)... Or similar in the case of Australia, a federation of states... or maybe I shouldn't have gone to the Gomez concert last night, lots of interesting smelling cigarettes..........but was amazing..... :-D From dictionary.com State: - A body politic, especially one constituting a nation: the states of Eastern Europe. <- Canada would qualify as a state here :D Sorry, just had to be a pedant. Reminds me of a, you guessed it, American who was quite amazed to learn that Africa is not like Australia in being one big country. She assumed my passport just said Africa on it and South Africa was just the general direction of where I came from in this vast country. When you use state in that manner it impies that a less formal relationship exists between peoples than a nation or country, and it is rather insulting IMHO. state != country country is a type of state. ----------------------------- All truth passes through 3 stages. Hi, I didn't mean to be insulting, but I think you misunderstand what the words state, nation and country mean. To whit: country = A nation or state. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=country The dictionary says this, many words have varied meaning in context, I didn't mean to imply a lessening of the words value, just joking around with meanings.
