;P Funny, but show me a post that ends with "Allah is great, here is a website to go see about it" or "Buddha is great, here is a website you should go to" Why does a religion need to be peddled like dishwasher detergent or mutual funds anyway?

We have a few of those in Bournemouth. They have microphones and amps. They stop people in the street. Fortunately I'm a Catholic, and they hate those more than atheists. Do they honestly think they're going to convert people that way?

I saw some of them in Bristol, and I'm sorry but they really were self righteous b"£$%ards  I'm not a religious person but there are many christians I respect for ther beliefs. These con artists are not amongst them. Why to I say this ? Because they are about dogma not faith and bully people into doing as they are told. The tigress is here :-D

What's with all these people cheering for god in the tag lines of their posts these days here? Does anyone else find that incredibly annoying or is it just me? Shouldn't that be something personal like having dandruff or do you get brownie points from god the more you shake your personal belief "fist" in everyone else's faces? Most importantly: Can anyone suggest something I can put in my tagline that would really offend the god-squad while still conforming to cp posting rules?

John Cardinal wrote: What's with all these people cheering for god in the tag lines of their posts these days here? Does it really matter? It's their sig (and so their "territory", so to speak) and if quoting a bit of scripture or something helps them think they've done their bit for the cause, it means they're less likely to go and really bother people with street preaching and door knocking :-D. My sig sort of expresses my own religious beliefs too (or more accurately, the lack of :-)). So if it really bothers you, find a good quote yourself. You can have this one I considered using myself, if you like: "I thought physics could be done to the glory of God, till I saw there wasn't any God at all and that physics was more interesting anyway. The Christian religion is a very powerful and convincing mistake, that's all." - from The Amber Spyglass, by Philip Pullman. Change "physics" to "computing" and you get a very simplified version of my own religious experiences

I haven't seen any of those. Who are they? My sister was telling me how there are so many people in Australia that stand on the streets asking if people believe in God, and would they like to hear about God, and wouldn't it be great if they let God into their lives. That would irritate me no end.

Plenty of those in London. Saw and heard one yesterday at the F1 event with a loud hailer trying to convert the legions of F1 fans to Christianity. His response to "Do you believe in God?" flumoxed them long enough for him to get away. As he is a Hindu his reply was "Yes, I am believing in many Gods".
