Some "Scotty" trivia: Doohan's wife Wende is 37 years younger than he is. He was given an honorary Degree in Engineering by the Milwaukee School of Engineering where apparently half of the students polled said they were inspired to study engineering by his role in "Star Trek" He lost the middle finger of his right hand on D-Day as a member of the Royal Canadian Artillery. The only two episodes of "Star Trek" in which one can see that Doohan's middle finger is missing are "The Trouble with Tribbles" and "Cats Paw". Doohan went to great length to hide his "disability".
