I stole that tagline from someone who posts here. Yes, unfortunately it is HARDER to make that kind of money, but not impossible. It all depends on what kind of drive you have and who you know. I currently make 5 figures but i continue to find ways to boost my bottom line. Some of it is with web sites (i make a lot of extra income this way, actually), some is through freelancing. I'm looking into real estate options, too. Anyone can make six figures. Few have the desire that overcomes the work. Hint: make 100 sites that generate $1000 a year. You're there. You can sign up as a Code Project supporter without buying MSDN or Visual Studio. However, it is rather steep - If it was split up over the year it would be more palatable.

Colin, I'd thoroughly recommend Visual Assit. No, I don't work for them, I'm a very satisfied user. I downloaded the time limited trial ages ago, when it was back on version 6 (or whatever, when I was using VC++ 6, anyway), then bought myself a license. Now, I wouldn't code without it. Be warned though: if you try the month's trial, you will get hooked! Cheers, Jon

You add to that all the people causing wars because support did not "snap to" when they wanted something (as some wars on here can happen on silly things like ads) or because the system was slow or a multitude of other issues, and you simply have a mess and probably many people threatening to leave the site permanently because they "Paid" for the site and they do not feel they are getting enough for their money. Of course then you will end up having to do something about the ads, since they will not feel it is right to see ads after they have paid to support the site. I am sure things could go on an on. I remembered when I released a new version of a program years ago that had a bug right out to the gate. Took me more time to deal with all the email issues than it to fix the problem. Does not matter that some people do not wish to support the site and ignore ads, that is expected. Colin, I'd thoroughly recommend Visual Assit. No, I don't work for them, I'm a very satisfied user. I downloaded the time limited trial ages ago, when it was back on version 6 (or whatever, when I was using VC++ 6, anyway), then bought myself a license. Now, I wouldn't code without it. I've got the trial already - It is amazing but some of the little things are actually what make it really nice. For instance, I sometimes have to print out code so being able to see quickly where the margin will be is excellent. Not having to type
this.to see what fields I have in a class is excellent also. There are a few things that I have to get used to, for instance over the years I've built up the ability to type brackets/braces/quotes quickly but Visual Assist does all that for me.
