I know they are a sponsor and advertiser here and all but...

that ad for Crystal Reports 10 I have to call bullshit on. I've used it for years integrated into applications and all their claims in the animated gif ad here are false, it's not the easiest to integrate quite the opposite, it's not fast to use quite the opposite there as well etc etc. I know I'm not the only one because every time it comes up here in any forum ther are a chorus of people that chime in to state how bad nearly everything about it is, people who normally don't bother posting that kind of thing, but they are left with such bad experiences with it (as I have) that they are compelled to warn people off of it. It works, don't get me wrong, but that's about all I can say good about it. There are so many new excellent products out there for .net at least that I think were going to see a major shakeup for Crystal Reports where it eventually might turn into a product that meets their claims, or it will die, one or the other. I'd love to see C.P. go after advertisers that people here can agree have good products worthy of exhibiting here like Active Reports from DataDynamics or Enterprise Architect, a great little inexpensive UML application from a small Australian developer that is widely used by a lot of CP'ians etc.

I agree with you on Crystal Reports. It's far from easy. (In any other form than a pathetic ActiveX drop in) :| -- Ich bin Joachim von Hassel, und ich bin Pilot der Bundeswehr. Welle: Erdball - F104-G Starfighter

Agreed. We use ActiveReports and couldn't be happier. One of the nice things is that, since some of the managers know at least a little about designing Access reports, we can just use the ActiveReports designer to upgrade the reports that the managers make. And Access reports are much easier to teach to someone than CR reports.

We got hooked on it through a free version that came with VB (or so i'm told). Now we've too much time invested in creating report templates to ditch it easily. Someday...
You**'re one microscopic cog** in his catastrophic plan...Reminds me of an episode of the Simpsons. Homer eats some cakes or something that are being given away on promotion. He asks for more and gets told to go inside to buy them. He says something like 'Oh, right - get us addicted and then jack up the price !!!' I'm still using 8.5 The only thing I don't like about Crystal is the formulae editor and the help. Why when pressing help why can I not get back into Crystal Reports until I've closed the help down. I'd be interested in knowing which claims you are referring to though. I may have to upgrade one day. Michael CP Blog [^]
