Chris, I'm a big fan of Pinnacle Studio. See this[^] article for more info. /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Articles | Freeware | Music ravib@ravib.com

What version? My efforts with version 8 lead to most disks being corrupted and unusable. This is with 90 minute videos vs shorter ones. That is with the Sony 4x drive on a 2.5 AMD system with 1 gig of memory I do not mind getting old. It beats all the other options that can think of.

I'm looking for some suggestions/help with some DVD creation software. I'm recording/editing .mpg files on a PC at home and would like to be able to create a DVD of the final product. Nothing glamourious or slick is needed, just something simple that works. Thanks. Chris Meech I am Canadian. Thanks for the link to the article, Ravi. When I got all my hardware, I also got an older copy of Pinnacle, either version 6 or 7, but I had a lot of difficulty trying to learn it's interface. Maybe I should have stayed with it, but I got Microsoft's MovieMaker for editting and it seemed easy to learn and use. Unfortunately though you can't create a DVD from it. Only a Video CD and not all DVD players will play Video CDs. I'm mostly interested in just the DVD creation process and not the editting part. Chris Meech I am Canadian. Thanks for all the suggestions. A really big help. I spent some time going through Microsoft's web site concerning MovieMaker and discovered that they recommend Sonic MyDVD for creating DVDs. I'll be looking into this. Thanks again. :) Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] I think people should be required to have an operator's permit to use the internet. John Simmons

How about Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 - it includes VideoWave 7 and DVD Builder along with all of the programs from earlier versions of the suite... Steve

Version 9 is just as bad or worse. I make a disk image and then get out of studio and then back in and THEN burn the image to DVD. This seems to work most of the time. Burning straight to DVD has never worked for me. I still use Pinnacle Studio because it does have lots of potentially great features, but boy can the bugs in it (and there are plenty) be frustrating. Drew.

Just curious, Jeremy. Have you had some negative experiences with Sonic's MyDVD product? The important feature I'm looking for is the creation of a DVD. I'm not concerned with it's capture/edit abilities at all. Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] I think people should be required to have an operator's permit to use the internet. I never used it for this, but Nero seems to do it. Yes, even I am blogging now!

Ditto vote for Nero. I would recommend the full Nero 6 Ultra Edition package for about 80.00 USD. I regularly use it to edit and burn my own data and home movie DVDs.

                        > Sonic MyDVD works Not for me it doesn't--even really basic functionality. It came with my brother-in-law's digital video camera. I select a few clips, hit the Burn button, and it complains that I "...first need to save". Fine, I select Save. The program can't do it, fails with some cryptic error message. So I can't save, thus I can't burn anything. So I tried again--many time. For me, on my machine, it's as simple as launching the program, selecting an MPG, hitting Save--and the program is already in a brain-dead state. I thought something was FUBAR on my system (otherwise how could anyone fail to notice such problems with *basic* functionality), but many reinstalls didn't help. I got ahold of a newer version, and got the exact same results. Needless to say, Sonic isn't for me.
