Any advice on what to take in order to help me get some sleep? I can't get more than 2/3 hours anymore. Overcounter drugs, foods, teas, herbs, any suggestions welcome.

No drugs, they are short term measures. Exercise, meditation, reiki can all help. And yes, cut down onthe caffeine. The tigress is here :-D

I jog/ride/lift weights 5 days a week It's strange, I feel drowsy at bed time, but once I lie down in bed, I get an adrenaline surge. I'm not stressed out or anything. I'll try dropping some sugar intake and do a little meditation as someone else suggested and see what happens.

Here in Brazil we use a rainforest fruit called maracujá (I believe you call it "passion fruit" or "passion flower"). http://www.rain-tree.com/maracuja.htm[^]. A couple glasses of maracujá juice is all most people need for a good night of sleep, and it's delicious. There's a product sold here, made from highly concentrated maracujá, named Maracujina. Two spoons of it and I fall like a rock in the bed, although I only used it a couple of times in my life. Some people have resistance to maracujá, so it has absolutely no effect on them. Yes, even I am blogging now!

Maybe a medical doctor? Sounds like a very severe case of sleep disorder and should be reveiwed by a medical specialist to be sure it is not the result of some other hidden and life threatening medical condition. Good luck. Best, Jerry

Do not know of any over the counter stuff that works. The one thing a lot of people recommended was valerian root, but did not help me at all. It really depends on what the problem is. With me, my poor brain does not quit working and stress just increases it. I can be dog tired fall to sleep for 20 minutes and wake up so restless I cannot sleep. I also have RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) on top of it and now over the counter stuff works on that which I have found. For me, I get good rest from muscle relaxers and for a long duration sleep, Amitryptline (75 mg). So, I average 3-5 hours per night without medications :) Rocky <>< www.HintsAndTips.com www.GotTheAnswerToSpam.com

I took that once for Migraines, and it definitely put me to sleep. Some of the side effects were too much for me. I was a zombie most of the time, but I could just sit down an code for hours without getting distracted at all. I was wondering if it had any of the same effects on you?

What has changed in your life to cause this sleep disorder? Stress at work? Girlfriend/wife troubles? Family problems? Not getting enough exercise, staying healthy, eating properly? Seriously, I'd avoid tablets and sort out the root cause. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Ian Darling wrote: "and our loonies usually end up doing things like Monty Python." Yeah, I only use it occationally to get at least one or two good nights of sleep, not all the time. It makes you sleeping all day. The muscle relaxer is better though since it just makes you feel like you cannot hardly move but wears off in about two hours, that way I am fresh and ready to go the minute I wake up.
