Some of the best leaders in history would probably have been lost to us if they had microphones shoved in their faces and judged on that rediculous standard. Besides, Bush does not misspeak any more than most other politicians. His gaffs just get more publicity because it gives the moore-ons (lefties) something to feel good about. Then why didn't they pick on Bush Sr. Or Reagan, or etc, etc? Or hell, if I remember right, while Rush L. and friend griped about Clinton *all* the time, I don't remember that incompetent public speech was one of their complaints. Bush doesn't just make a *few* mistakes - he makes enough to warrant a whole book published about them! Stuff like the ever popular "misunderestimate" quote! :) ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! That's great... might make the "Moment of Zen" on the Daily Show tonight. Even without the guffaws ( and a plenty they are  ) from GWB I have always thought his speech writers suck. Apparently he cant tell, not a surprise of course. Yes I know that what appeals to me in speaking style is not every ones cup of tea.

yeah, the wingnuts would never stoop so low. plus they were too busy upholding the high level of public discourse (that which they now loudly bemoan the loss of) by accusing Clinton of being a serial-murdering, drug dealing, rapist scumbag to bother with petty stuff like speaking problems.
