:laugh::laugh::laugh: I downloaded it and burned it to a cd. Haven't installed it yet - I'll try it at the office first. We have a legacy device driver (NT 4 - works on XP SP1) that I need to test. If that survives then anything will :) And if it does I'll make my own machine unbootable :) Rob Manderson I'm working on a version for Visual Lisp++

Downloaded the whole of XP SP2 in 19mins and began the installation. During the file copy task the installation fail with Can't not copy System.ch_. Even though I pointed it at the correct path. I rolled back and tried again and this time it worked  So far nothing has been broken, but there's the rest of the day yet!

Burnt a cd of important files. Put it on no probs at all. Just picky stuff like it doesn't recognise my anti virus and my version of Windows is no longer called XP Home edition just XP. Everything else seems fine so far, though I suspect now would be a really bad time to try and break into the firewall market. pseudonym67 My Articles[^] "They say there are strangers who threaten us, In our immigrants and infidels. Always pays to install on a spare machine first ;-) I forgot this once and then had to spend a day re-installing my main machine. John Crocker

We've been doing internal testing of XP SP2 for a while now, and I've been running it for a good bit on my Laptop w/o a single issue. Even on a 64bit AMD with NX and Sandboxing features enabled, we've had little problems; and those programs that did start to fail were buggy to begin with [insert Windows joke here]. The biggest "deal" is that the Windows Firewall shuts all open ports, except those used by MS programs. So programs that listen on a port will cease to function. Good for some things bad for others (e.g., TCP/IP database engines will need to be added to the trusted firewall list). Other than that ... it's been just fine :~ kinda strange, now that I think about it ... D.

I installed it and after a reboot my laptop picks up my wireless LAN, but uses a duff IP address, so nothing works. I need to disconnect/reconnect to get it working. Used to work OK. However, if I use standby instead of shutting down, then when it comes back to life, it still has the correct IP address. Only a slight annoyance.

I don't know if this problem still exists (since i don't have AMD64 and can't test it) but these features really mess up games, especially those from a few years ago. Matt Newman
What is your malfunction? - Dangeresque, too?

Gee, Video Games with buffer over and under runs ... NAH! That's not possible! THAT does not surprise me in the least ... You can turn this on/off, from what I have been told; I have not actually checked into this myself. D.

Bleh. This actually happened to me. :(( Lost a whole day of productivity since I had to reinstall XP and all of my applications. That's the first time anything like that has happened to me since back in the OS/2 days. Custom Software, Custom Solutions. Yye Software. http://www.yyesoftware.com
