I know. It shows. :rose: There's a certain kind of developer who'll pepper their code with ASSERTs and VERIFYs, correctly Doxygen/JavaDoc everything, and compile every library in Debug/Release and Unicode/MBCS modes. Not because they have to, but because doing anything less would be shoddy and unprofessional. Craftsmanship. /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Articles | Freeware | Music ravib@ravib.com

When you know what all that means, it's represents and incredible investment. Don't disrespect it by behaving like one who doesn't know any better.

Oh I appreciate "Troilus and Criseyde" as much as the next guy - it's the "shouldn't have wrote" that caused me to gurgle uncontrollably. /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Articles | Freeware | Music ravib@ravib.com

I am supporting your behavior, the comment is not a detraction! You comment made me think of the antithesis - lumps out there performing some primitive repetitive pattern, thinking they are developing software. But it's not based on understanding, appreciation for what follows from step 1, improving, increasing effectiveness, and so on. It's not backed up by continual research, reading, understanding, toying with new ideas and concepts, striving to ensure standards are a) known to exist b) understood c) ackowledged as being necessary d) implemented. It's not, in the mathematical sense, beautiful. Those others who should rather be in some other industry. Maybe they'd be happier fixing an engine or flying a fighter jet. But I don't want them developing in my company. They should rather move to sales, marketing, HR, or some other domain where they can flourish. And stop bothering me. Sorry, I misunderstood you. The last sentence seemed like it was directed to my post. caractacus wrote: Maybe they'd be happier fixing an engine or flying a fighter jet. That's a good analogy. There are tinkerers and there are craftsmen. I believe there's room (and a necessity) for both. Just not on the same project. /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Articles | Freeware | Music ravib@ravib.com

It must be painfully obvious that I have absolutely no life. Saturday night and I'm furiously pressing Enter, waiting for CP to reload. But wait - there's a ham sandwich within reach! /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Articles | Freeware | Music ravib@ravib.com

This is a philosophical question. Pigs are quite intelligent so what would happened if a pig became sentient, could communicate with us and became jewish ? The tigress is here :-D

One thing's for sure - they wouldn't be spending Saturday night writing code or eating ham sandwiches. :) /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Articles | Freeware | Music ravib@ravib.com
