I know this is something most of us probably rather not think about, but sitting at a computer all day isn't exactly healthy and typing isn't exactly what I would consider aerobic exercise. So the question, if you don't think it's to personal, is 'What do you do to stay in shape?' I have a family history and that is not exactly the way I would like to go. I was walking and jogging, but have started more bike riding recently. Chores around the house keep me moving at home too. I've done a poor job of eating well of late, but that's slowly changing back again. BW The Biggest Loser

if I ever get out of computers this would be the #1 reason why. Sitting behind a desk all day every day just sucks. I work out at a gym and I only eat 2 meals a day. Beyond that, its a matter of making them not put the bags of candy bars in our area (those into XP programming will know what I'm talking about). The one other thing that has helped me too though is golfing. It's not extremely strenuous even if you walk, but it reminds you to get out and get some exercise.

I'm genuinely not interested in exercising, so I have to force myself to make time for it. Usually I go walking. I really enjoy single-track mountain biking, but there aren't many trails near where I live, so I don't bike very often. Finding friends that you can exercise with makes it more fun (e.g. go biking together, etc), but if you're like me all of your friends sit at a computer all day and don't like exercising either :) ------------------------------------------ - Mike "No human being would stack books like that." - Dr. Venkman

Kempo (a martial art) 2-3 nights a week, including sparring and/or grappling. In addition to that, I practice at home the rest of the week. And I'm a student at UCSD (Link goes to maps of the campus)...so I get plenty of walking in with my laptop backpack on my back. ;)

Well, I'm still not where I need to be myself, but am getting there. Have been averaging losing about 1-2 lbs. per month for the last several months. But what I do: :baaaa!: Strength training at the gym. I'm not hard-core enough yet to do the free weights, but I do use the machine thingies. :baaaa!: Biking. In particular I am trying to bike instead of drive a lot of my "short" trips (which includes getting to work), and got a nifty rain-coat so I have no excuses. :) They also have group bike exercise at the gym, which I do periodically. :baaaa!: Some running, although I'm not great at it. :baaaa!: Hockey! :) And for eating, I've been trying to stick with "No S" to cut down on overeating. An expert is somebody who learns more and more about less and less, until he knows absolutely everything about nothing.

I do home workouts with dumbbells - I try to do this about 3 times a week, been a bit too busy with work lately though. Weekends I like to hike in the local parks or foothills (Los Angeles County, California at the moment; Dundee, Scotland normally). Adding aerobic exercise doesn't seem to do squat for me. Earlier this summer I tried getting up early, 7 days a week, and doing half an hour on one of the machines at the gym... didn't change the way I was eating, and didn't lose an ounce. Luckily the apartment complex where I live has a free (though tiny) gym, so at least I didn't lose a ton of $$$ trying this out. I also try to do tai chi once in a while, to stay flexible (and to get my circulation going again when I've been sitting on my butt for too long). Sorry you asked yet? :) -- Diane C "I think it would be a good idea." (Mahatma Gandhi, when asked what he thought of western civilisation)

Cycling - not enough to fight the bulge, but keeps me from getting to couchy. Swimming once a week, pretty mind-numbing but does my back good.
