I don't know if it is a repost, but this is really really bad... Programs that have problems after SP2[^] :omg: :sigh: I don't know where this is leading into... Don't you thing sometimes, a point is reached where backward-compatibility does not (or can even not) work anymore???? What do you think?

Making the decision to make your program bend over backwards sometimes does get in the way of progress, but unfortunately (or fortunately for users!), it makes solid businness sense.

:beer: + :java: = NULL :=> X|Most of the problems are just becuase the firewall which is now on by default blocks most incoing ports. Enabling the in bound ports for the given application fixes things. There are a couple of problems with the memory protection, but then hey, its easy for the software vendors to fix. Also I know I've heard there are loads of problems with IBM software such as Notes etc, but thats more because IBM just love to use undocumented API's, which is there own fault.

We are the guys who have more and more problems to make a really compatible software which runs almost OSs, Win2k is still standard in most of the cases (industry, business...)... X| I know it's complicate, but if you want to set up your own services, you might have a problem...

Put together a complete list of all Windows apps out there, and count the ones for which SP2 causes problems. Somehow I think MS's share will shrink significantly.

They finally release a significant patch and it breaks a few things out of the box. And as for backwards-compatibility just remember the whole 9x line of windows X| Matt Newman

:beer: + :java: = NULL :=> X|And all the MS stuff on the list works just fine with XP SP2, you will notice the KB article just says programs will behave differently, not be broken. I think the only problems/differences are related to the firewall blocking some programs.
