freeware, console based ZIP program?
-
Hi The keywords "freeware", "zip", "console" unfortunately produce no usable results in Google... I am looking for a freeware, console based (DOS box) ultility to compress several files from a directory tree (e.x. *.TXT, recursive) into a ZIP archive (.ZIP) with a batch file (.BAT) unter Win2000. PKWARE doesn't offer anything for free anymore. Any suggestions welcome! Thanks & Bye, T.T.H.

Try 7zip, it's the best zip utility I found with the ugliest interface ever. But since you'll be using it from command line, it's a good option. Yes, even I am blogging now!

You could write your own using the SharpZipLib[^]library and C#.. It's Native C# and GPL. Err are programming answers allowed?? Gary
Or you could get the .NET 2.0 beta (with C# Express[^], for example) and use the new, super-duper functions in the new, super-duper System.IO.Compression[^] namespace! Hail Eris! All Hail Discordia!
