At the moment it sounds too good to be true. So I think I'll wait and see.

My question is this, how is compressed air created? My guess is that there is electricity involved in compressing the air and electricity does create pollution, so this is not truly a pollution free vehicle. Of course, maybe compressed air occurs naturally in nature and I'm missing a very big point. ;) Custom Software, Custom Solutions. Yye Software. http://www.yyesoftware.com

billb2112 wrote: My question is this, how is compressed air created? If you read the site it does say that it uses a compressor to create the compressed air. You will either be able to fill up at a fuel station in about 3 minutes, or plug in to the mains for 4 hours and allow its onboard compressor to recharge the car. There is also mention of a hybrid vehicle that would run a compressor when the vehicle was travelling at high speeds (motorway cruising - when petrol engines are at their most efficient). billb2112 wrote: so this is not truly a pollution free vehicle The site also does point out that it is not zero pollution period, but that the car itself produces no pollution. The main advantage is that the pollution is geographically displaced, if the power station is running on fossil fuels, so that it reduces urban pollution - which is the point of this car. Also, consider that the running costs are in the region of €0.75 per 100km in an urban environment. That is about the same as I pay for running my PC per day. So, should I quit using my PC because it (indirectly by the electricity that it uses) pollutes too much? billb2112 wrote: maybe compressed air occurs naturally in nature and I'm missing a very big point. Yes, air does get compressed in nature. However, here on Earth nature is unlikely to compress air to 300 bars. Normal atmospheric fluctuations are in the region of 0.95 to 1.05 bars. Finally, if you still think this car produces too much pollution, then I assume you don't use cars at the moment, nor busses, trains and so on. You get everywhere on foot or by bycycle? Just so long as you keep your intake of baked beans down - we wouldn't want you to pollute the atmosphere now, would we? ;P

(EDITED) Ok, I am game for looking at one (if specs delivered.) Who wants to setup (and pass) a US distributor? It can not be that much worse than my toyota meeting a 18 wheeler. --> "But at MDI's grudging admission, the prototypes do not yet live up to their promised levels of performance. In fact, in the only published road test to date, one of the cars traveled a little over seven kilometers (4.5 miles) on a full tank of air." WIRED[^] That is a year old. Any better distance documented? I do not mind getting old. It beats all the other options that can think of.

What I want to know is this.. Why is it that every time a company release a new car design that is supposed to be fuel efficient they feel the need to have the design of the car look like some matchbox toy or a golf cart on steroids? Why does no one release a new hybrid car that looks like a Jaguar or a Corvette?

I was wondering when someone would comment on that. :-D Latin is cool, but I think Bash.org is cooler. Sometimes I can sit there for hours and read through those things. :)
