Pythagoras lived during the 6th century BC, and the first calculation of Pi I know was made by Archimedes, during the 3rd century BC? Oh, by the way, do you feel proud to have 2 eyes, or 2 feets, or proud to be a human being? Just to state this, how can you be proud of something you didn't choose? (unless you left your country to emigrate to India and decided to become Indian, and then it's a totally different case)

It was a united nation a long time before the British came. It was civilized waaaaaay before then. The first unification happened when the Moghuls invaded. I think it was roughly some 1000 years before the British came. "One of the Georges," said Psmith, "I forget which, once said that a certain number of hours' sleep a day--I cannot recall for the moment how many--made a man something, which for the time being has slipped my memory."

That sounds about right. But the British empire was set up during the reign of the Mughals. I know for a fact that the East India Company was established sometime in the 1600's during the reign of Jehangir. And I know that when the French and British fought the battle of Plassey on Indian soil Mughal armies were involved. The whole thing is really complicated. "One of the Georges," said Psmith, "I forget which, once said that a certain number of hours' sleep a day--I cannot recall for the moment how many--made a man something, which for the time being has slipped my memory."
