But then again they could just really be very stupid and I am giving them much more credit then they deserve. I do not mind getting old. It beats all the other options that can think of.

With IE, there is a link [^] button in the toolbar (below the text field), which "linkifies" an URL selected in the Text box. Recently, this is done automatically for links posted. And yes, if you are on other browsers, you are expected to type that in. At least I expect this

I was a Netscape zealot in the early days, but more than anything, I think that a path forward can only involve standardisation. Perhaps it's true that IE does a bad job in implimenting W3C standards, perhaps other browsers do that better. But in the world where I live, we spend as much time trying to accomodate the 1% of non IE users whose browsers won't render things nicely as we spend building the rest of the app, and that plain sucks. Standards are a good thing, and the more rinky dink browsers there are in the world, the worse it gets. The other annoying thing is that people who use inferior browsers are SO proud of themselves for not using the Microsoft browser. ---Mark--- wrote: By the way it's more like 5% Perhaps across the board, but that does not necessarily reflect the demographic of the clients of people who pay us to develop sites.
