I have (had) an iPaq 5500, and this morning it's power light was on orange, and it would not power up. I thought the battery was low, but plugging it in to power did not change things. I took the battery out and put it back in, the light is gone, and my PDA does nothing. I feel sad.... Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

From my experience, the 5550's do that from time to time. Try charging it for a full day using the cradle. I have a bunch of 5550's that I use for testing, and I sometimes have similar problems with them when I have to leave my trusted 3950 and test my app. on wm2003. --- "Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest". -- Denis Diderot

I felt a similar sadness the day my Handspring fell two feet to soft carpet with its protective hard cover in place and suffered a catastrophic total failure. I was sadder still to learn that the manufacturer wanted as much to fix it as it cost me, even though it was only two months old. My Palm m515 has taken far worse abuse with no ill effects. Something similiar happened to a buddy of mine and after a quick call and a hard reset everything went back to normal.

OK - I left it charging overnight, and still it won't power up, but I'll try a little longer. Christian I have drunk the cool-aid and found it wan and bitter. - Chris Maunder

To do a hard reset (which will wipe the memory!) you need to hold down the bottom two buttons, and press the soft reset button, keep holding until the screen fades (or something) then release them... press the soft reset button again. Have you checked the hp support forums on this topic?
