I currently use Sprint, been with then about 6 years. Its time for a change, the reception in my apartment (Queens) is getting worse, my phone broke and the one they offered as a replacement is not what I would choose, also they won't let me pay to upgrade it.. So, any suggestions for a new carrier, or horror stories? T-Mobile is top of my list as a replacement. Gary

Hi Gary, I live in Jersey and work in lower Manhattan. I have TMobile and it works great where ever I am in Manhattan. I also have perfect service in the office. I am not sure if it will be much diff in Queens than it is in lower Manhattan but figured I would throw in my 2 cents.

i live in north/central new jersey and have t-mobile. i've had no problems with them in and around the city as well as when travelling. i've been with them on their family plan for about 5-6 years through the whole Ominpoint/VoiceStream/T-Mobile transition. I'd recommend them. a friend has verizon wireless service and while recently on vacation in a remote beach town in nc was getting service even where my wife and i were unable to. another friend has cingular and while, overall, he is happy with them, has unreliable service a.) where he lives (rahway) and b.) where we work. (somerset) two places you'd generally expect to have no problems getting service.

Just a note IRT Sprint... In my experience, SprintPCS sales people tend to be exceedingly poor people to deal with - they'll rarely go out of their way to cut you a deal, and often seem go out of their way to screw you over. However, 3rd-party retailers such as Radio Shack and Best Buy seem to be much easier to deal with - providing you limit your dealings to purchasing new equipment. For real customer service, call their hotline... perhaps several times, if that's what it takes. Judging from my experience, the call center people tend to be much more informed and much more willing to work to keep your business than the retail folks. Of course, if your reception sucks, there's no point to sticking with them anyway...

I live in Queens - Forest Hills and work in Manhattan - 8 ave/15 str, using Verizon for 5 years and happy. It's not the cheapest service but reliable IMO. Every 2 years you get $100 off toward the new phone. So far I did not have any problems with their customer support, all issues have been resolved quickly. Igor.

That was my experience too, I'd had pretty good service from their call center staff. Reception used to be great (when I switched from AT&T 6 years ago). Gary

I switched to sprintPCS about 8 months ago and I hate it. The reception is awful, I drop calls all the time (when I can find a signal that is). When my 1 year contract is up, I'm probably going to switch to Verizon. Now, I live in SLC but I travel all over quite a bit (including New York) and that has been my experience.

Corolla. We actually took a day trip up to North Swan Beach (4WD area) and our friend tried her phone up there as well, but it was spotty at best. A bar here and there, but nothing that i would call "reliable".
