Would anyone like to take part in a quick poll to see what browser/OS we all use? If so, head on over to http://davidsalter.co.uk/browser/[^] and log your browser details. This should settle the Linux v's Windows debate once and for all :~ :~

Where in the world is the PK TLD, and how did you detect my screen resolution?:omg: "My kid was Inmate of the Month at Adobe Mountain Juvenile Corrections Center" - Bumper Sticker in Bullhead City

Won't this survey only show what browsers people use for CP? I use Firefox for CP, Opera for everything else.

Thats correct. There's not a lot of science here, just a quick poll.

I think PK is Pakistan. Roger Wright wrote: how did you detect my screen resolution magic;P (or maybe a bit of Javascript).

My primary browser is Maxthon (so IE) it is really so much better than any other interface by default. However I use FireFox at home because it loads pages on my satellite connection faster. Logged in poll as FireFox.

This demographic will quite happily click on shiny things however:laugh:

Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

Just to screw up your stats I visited the page on IE 1.0 on 95 (needless to say, in VMware). ...well, I *tried*. I couldn't even get that far. :-p

Simple question: Why Opera, is it just because you paid for it (assuming you have and are not putting up with the ads)? Rocky <>< www.HintsAndTips.com - Now with "Recommendation" postings www.MyQuickPoll.com - Now with Recent Poll List

Why Opera? A lot of little things, such as:- Pressing F12 to bring up pop up menu that allows me to change a few simple things such as allowing popup windows for sites the insist on using them. The 'status bar' on the bottom that gives info on the page loading MY PC is dual boot NT and XP. the same settings work on both, like Firefox, I get the same bookmarks on each system. I can access IMAP mail boxes using it. I have the Ads version, I just don't see the ads anymore. A few bits annoy me, like it still crashes on me. Firefox almost does everything I want, tabbed windows, mouse gestures etc. but not everything yet, and as the saying goes, 'better the devil you know'! Perhaps I should ask why IE?

Actually, I did not see any features listed other than some extra kind of info while a page is loading that is not already in FireFox. As for the popups, it says on the bar above the page that the popup was blocked and allows you to adjust the settings right there. Also, with FireFox the extentions can really make a difference. Simple things, like double clicking a tab to close it or one that is important to me, the Web Developer's extention that gives tons of extra features to help track down developer errors on sites you build. I got quite a few of those extentions installed ;) You can also access IMap in Mozilla or in Thunderbid (there stand alone email that I use). Who said IE? :) For many things I am using FireFox (even with the many bugs it has) now and IE for those sites that FireFox are not compatible with or requires IE directly. I have used Opera for several years, I will swop to Firefox sometime, but not yet. As you said Firefox now nearly has all the features of Opera, which Opera has had for years. As the saying goes if it aint broke don't fix it. I used to use IE for CP, I now use Firefox, only rarely do I find a site that Firefox won't render. I remmeber the days of incompatible PCs, the net is great as it is 'standard' it would be nice if websites were not designed for a single browser, I am not knocking CP about this. Perhaps when/if Firefox gets to 50% that may happen, but I am sure the bean counters will try and prevent that!
