I am so far behind and I just cannot seem to get caught up. It is after 11pm and I am working on a web app that was due last week. I have two more projects stacked up that are small (20 to 40 hrs) and a full time 4-month contract. I am grateful for the work but sometimes it seems overwhelming I have been at this pace since Febuary. Guess I need to quite messing around on CP, get back to work and quite whining :sigh:

YourYou're (busted by the usage police) not alone...these days, companies demand more with less. Our workload has remained constant over the past few years, but we had a 33% staff reduction in the spring...(for us, that meant 18 people) :sigh: Steve

Steve I am sorry to hear about the reductions that hurts everyone. You are right about more for less though my deadlines are pretty tight and I constantly worry about the quality. If I can get enough momentum this year I would really like to get a full or part time developer late next year. It probably won't happen but if I can just get past doing it all on my own I think there is a real chance to make a living at this. Is your company making a comeback yet?

Enjoy it whilst it lasts. This time last year I was juggling four largish projects. Currently, I've got nothing but little scraps. Balancing the workload is hard. A lot depends on the required finish date of each project. Most of mine needed to be finished about the same time, so I'd do one day on one project and the next day on the other. Or if I hit a problem on one, I'd move onto another until the solution presented itself. It did require a few 14hr days and working weekends too, but at least the work was fun. Michael CP Blog [^]

I have a great wife and two boys 17 and 19. We have been blessed to have a great life even thought it is tough work. I don't think I have met very many devleopers that don't really enjoy the work because it is just to hard to do without being committed. My private dream was that the oldest boy would join me an build a business together but he lacks the love of the work so it may be awhile.
