            Thanks! My last trip to the UK was in 1998 so maybe it has changed. :-O So are there any statistics yet that show a decrease in accidents or a massive switch to hands free phones? "Reality is what refuses to go away when I stop believing in it." Philip K. Dick

That ones easy to answer - the passenger knows when it is wise to shut up and then does so for their own safety! The guy at the other end of the phone has no idea until he hears the sound of bending metal. There was a court case a while ago where the person on the other end of the phone was giving evidence that the driver was talking when the accident happened - they heard it. (The driver didn't give evidence, he was dead)
