Mobile phone recommendation

Since this place has the highest nerd ratio[edit](nerd radio is a very interesting concept but not what I had in mind...)[/edit] known to man ;P then I figured that this would be the best place to ask this question: What type of mobile phone should I purchase? What do you recommend? My current list of desirable features is not long, but I would like the phone to have the following:
- A phone - I want to be able to make phone calls and receive them.
- A calendar, just some simple way to add reminders and TODO items.
- An MP3 player / Radio receiver.
- A camera would be nice but is not necessary.
Are there any phone types you would/wouldn't recommend?

Thanks, I'll check this model out. Looks promising at first sight :-) What about battery lifetime in Nokia phones? I've heard both good and bad stories about that, what is your experience?
My new Nokia 3100 seems OK so far - 5 or 6 days on standby, I don't make enough calls to offer an opinion on talktime. It lasted most of an extended 8-day trip (was supposed to be 7 days but missed the connection due to first flight being delayed!) to the US without charging but towards the end I was switching it off because it was down to two bars. I replaced my previous phone, the 3310, because that's only dual-band GSM 900/1800. This phone doesn't do media playback as far as I'm aware. Otherwise I think it meets your requirements. Stability. I have one of those too, though don't use it for mp3s or calendar: I have my muvo and palm for that ;) Hey what do you expect if you ask on a geek forum? Battery life is around 5 days on standby. Recharge time is very quick with the supplied adapter. It's a neat phone. Debbie

The only thing that never worked for more than 2 months without a problem was the screen on my NOKIA, I persoanlly hate NOKIA coz its really bad quality. User friendly menu is not only what I need. I have changed many mobile phones and I think that SIEMENS is the best quality and value for money. SIEMENS menu is not as good as in NOKIA but you get used to it. not to mention that SIEMENS menu are getting better and better all the time. I am just about to get the SIEMENS S65. I dont think that there is another phone with this spec at the same price... If you find one, please let me know... ;P;P;P;P theJazzyBrain

Try to find someone who has that model and try it first. Many phones look nice in the store but once you use them factors that the demo can't show you come into play. Use the phone. I have a Sony Ericson and I hate it. Sometimes is brings up a warning screen, you have to wait to get rid of it. This is a big deal when unlocking the keyboard, if I touch a button while reaching for it, then press c-yes (the normal unlock sequence) it will end up in a loop that I don't know to get out of. I've repeated the unlock sequence several times but the #$&^#*& remains locked. There are other delays that are annoying, but that one hits me often as I want to use the phone, not wait for it. There is a fancy joystick, but its been months since all 4 directions worked at one time. Makes navigation difficult. It has a calander, but adding items is such a pain that I don't bother. Perhaps if my computer could send them, but I don't know how to do this (likely requires a cable more expensive than the phone). I've like Nokia's in the past, but when I got this one Nokia was on their toy kick that I don't know if they got out of. I want a phone that doesn't look unprofessional, and doesn't feel cheap. I do recomend tri-band phones. You never know when you will travel. I'd look for a computer cable myself. If you have a laptop it seems like a good idea, even if you only use it a few times... Even if you don't, just so you can update your phone books and calendar from an interface that isn't a pain to use.

I'm probably not enough geek because I would rather have fewer gadgets around me, so the opportunity to combine several of them into one is just very tempting...

get a Microsoft SmartPhone. I don't think they have a radio receiver, but it does everything else you need. I've got a Motorola MPx200, but their MPx220 just came out, as did a Audiovox SMT 5600. I wouldn't normally buy an Audiovox product (they seem kinda cheap to me), but they didn't make this phone, they just bought the phone from HTC and slapped their name on it. I've encoded a couple DVDs into the a format/size for the phone, and enjoy them while riding the bus to work. My 256MB SD card can hold 2 movies, plus other applicaitons/mp3s/etc. Best of all, you can write your own applications for it.

I've got the most standard Nokia phone and I love it. Battery life has not been a huge problem for me. I go a few days in a row, making brief phone calls throughout the day and don't have a huge concern about battery life. That Nokia 6810 looks pretty awesome. I may have to check into that one too.
