I'm a wine drinker :-D I drink a couple of bottles of wine a week (together with my wife), but only about 1 beer, or less, a month... Right now my favorite wine is a "Angove's CR, 1998" (Shiraz Grape) from Southern Australia. :-D - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"

Both. Being in Australia means we're totally spoiled when it comes to good wine and it's pretty hard to go wrong when choosing. As to beer I used to think we had some great beer but, at the risk of being deported, I'd have to say that I prefer the beeer in Canada. cheers, Chris Maunder

Is vodka a wine? When it comes to wines I can't really appreciate them, so I don't bother drinking them. As to beer - they all tast like Bob's urine (at least all the ones i've ever had do), so I don't bother with them either. I prefer to go for the alcopops or *mild* coctails, with the rare shot of tequilla and even rarer shot of neat vodka. X| I'm also a Pimms drinker believe it or not, and a self admitted coke addict - as in coca cola not cocaine. I don't drink coffee as I can't stand the smell of it. Just don't ask for a "bloody mary" in Tiverton, or you might be shocked by what you get. They don't waste anything round here... Definitely a beer drinker. For some reason the sulfites in wine give me a nasty headache and a whopping hangover. And on top of that, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to beer. I enjoy good beer rather than the macrobrewed crap (Budweiser, Miller, Coors, Fosters, et al). I even came up with a site where hard core beer drinkers can rate beers they've had and of course, view all of the ratings to see how they compare. It's turning out to be a lot of fun and we've collected more than 40,000 ratings .... oh, sorry, it's starting to sound like spam now. :> Bill Great beers as rated by those who drink them. While I can definitley enjoy a good wine and savour a cold beer on a storming hot day I far prefer drinking spirits. The main reason is that wine and beer give me a really horrid hangover, even after just a few glasses. Yet with spirits I can knock back half a bottle and only have a mild rough tongue the next day. Living in SA though we have a fine choice of wines and beers. Our wines regularly win awards as do our beers. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa Do you Sonork? Wow David, same as me. I can't really tolerate the taste of lager or beer. I tend to stay on the cocktails when out, trying my best not to mix. Neat vodka always makes me pull a funny face (especially when downing a double shot), but it gets the job done quick i suppose. Simon Hey, it looks like you're writing a letter! Sonork ID 100.10024

To help prove (b), do you smoke or eat curries (or other very spicey foods)? Maybe there is some truth to this, as all my friends who like beers and lagers afaik also like hot foods. ________________ David Wulff http://www.davidwulff.co.uk "I wrote a program in Visual C++ that allows me to send over 5,000 GIGABYTES of Video to every computer and TV Set connected to the Internet in "0" SECONDS (YES! Not to mention that they don't give you (or at least me) a lasting hangover. It's cheap if you've got a big bottle of the stuff and some imagination! But buying shots of the stuff at pubs is just stupid - we're talking £2 for 1 shot sometimes. I remember paying £5 for a tequila double. I remember thinking tequila and vodka were basically the same (95% pure methanol and brake fluid with some added water) until i done a tequila and vodka slammer match with my friend. Tequila has a slightly larger volume on average, plus it actually has a nice kinda fruity taste. David Wulff wrote: To help prove (b), do you smoke or eat curries (or other very spicey foods)? Oh yes, i love a curry few times a week. I stick to relitavely mild stuff though. My friend can eat stuff that practically melts the plastic container (which, in my opinion, is what most chinese takeaways sell). You know, there might be something in what you're suggesting. I have also noticed this pattern. Perhaps we are greater coders than lager and hot curry lovers.... :-D Simon Hey, it looks like you're writing a letter! Sonork ID 100.10024

One of the great mysteries of life... I, for one, would also like to know the circumstances that led to the discovery that an artichoke is edible. That sucker must have been hungry! And just what brought into the realm of human knowledge the fact that licking the backsides of certain South American toads would cause hallucinations? Sounds like a college prank that had a serendipitous outcome!

BEER  But it has to be something good. Heinekin, Killians, Labatts, Micro-Brew. I refuse to drink most American crap like Budweiser. I have never enjoyed wine since I got sick on Sangria in Spain when I was 14 years old. ~Cliff

Beer. Well good beer anyway. I drink St. Pauli Girl or Becks. Wine drinkers spend more time researching and describing their beverage of choice than I spend drinking mine. Much ado about nada.

I regularly buy an Aussie Shiraz here in Phoenix that I absolutely love (I forget the brand). I hate to generalize but I really haven't found a good American-made wine in two years, with the possible exception of a German-type (oh the irony) spiced white made by a California brewery. All the merlots, cabernets and chardonnays et. al. made in the USA suck rocks. OTOH, I'm quite happy buying Italian (Bolla or Chianti), Australian (Shiraz), French (Beaujolais mostly) and German (Oppenheimer/Krottenbruner and Riesling) wines, even if it means a bit more of an expense. Now if I could find some Hungarian Tokay around these parts I'd be a happy puppy :) Beer I drink when I can find dark German brews, which is just about never. Anything else is just piss on a bottle. Gimme vodka or malt liquor instead of beer any day. ___________ Klaus [www.vbbox.com]

And just what brought into the realm of human knowledge the fact that licking the backsides of certain South American toads would cause hallucinations?
