New development tool ideas?

Hello, We are a small Independent Software Vendor (ISV) and we have recently released our first developer tool. We will continue to enhance this tool. We are looking for the next tool to develop that will help improve software development productivity. Does anybody have any ideas for new tools? I second that and add that it needs to be accessable over the internet and able to be installed ona shared hosting plan.

So SourceGear Vault's[^] $200 per active user is too much for you, eh? Cheaper if you buy more licences at one time - we bought 5 licences at $750 = $150/licence. Since version 3.0 is due out in a few weeks, you might want to consider the Gold Support package (an extra $90 per user, again discounted for more licences) so you get the upgrade for free. Or ask how much the upgrade will cost. Minor releases in the 2.0.x series have so far been free. You can register for a 30-day trial for up to ten active users (an active user can log in, whereas an inactive user is still registered and changes made by them are still marked as such, but they cannot log in). Currently a server with no installed licences supports a single active user with no time limit. Sorry for the advert, but I really think Vault's great. It has the general ease-of-use of SourceSafe but with more power, and none of SourceSafe's stringent maintenance requirements. For a company with no dedicated IT staff, it's great because it simply runs itself - we just back up the database fully once a week, and the transaction logs nightly. Stability. Refactoring support for C++ in Visual Studio IDE would be absolutely great. I wouldnt mind paying a fortune for it. Java has great tools for that (Eclipse and Intelli IDEA) but C++ has none unfortunately. Mustafa Demirhan http://www.macroangel.com

I second that. I'm currently working by myself and using Vault's single-user free license. It's really good, easy to use and setup. I'll sure I'll buy it whenever I start to grow. -- LuisR
