I just finished a lenghty project, and now I have WAY too much time to fill. I'm looking for a nice space combat simulator, possibly with an arcade-ish approach (I don't want to spend too much time exploring the universe, just get in a cockpit and fry some evil force). Better with lots of eye-candy, good-looking graphics is always welcome. Can you suggest some titles with a playable demo to try out? If it may help you, I always liked the Wing Commander saga, especially the 3rd episode. Thank you! Luca The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance. Edit: I'm looking for PC games, not console ones.

Well if you can find a copy, X-Wing:Alliance is still a good blast. Or if you can cope with the old graphics, nothing beats Tie-Fighter. Michael CP Blog [^]

I haven't played it recently but I rather enjoyed Starfleet Command Volume 2 : Empires at War. I found the sim aspect of the game rather good however the campaign was rather lame. That was two releases ago (one an expansion). The current version is Version 3. www.taldren.com As a sim it is pretty cool as you can have different views (overhead, cockpit) and damage to ships occur at specific locations. You can do hit and run raids with marines, drop mines, launch fighters and shuttles, etc. Very involved. It is based on Star Fleet Battles board game and has many races, ships, etc. Different tactivs work for different ships/races. I think you would enjoy it I also did homeworld (Version 1) sometime ago and it got rave reviews but I didn't really enjoy it as I am not good at managing multiple ships doing multiple missions in a 3D map but you might enjoy it. If i recall it has a cockpit view as well. Have fun, I'm envious.

well, that all depends... if you enjoyed the space combat, I'll agree with the others here, especially the freelancer suggestion. If you enjoyed picking up the ladies in WC3... that's in a different game. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Looking at the Microsoft page, it seems that they have a bug in there code. The moving aircraft get scrolled relative to the scrollable image in there instead of staying relative to the background image where they seem relevant. However, this could also be "by design". Oh yeah. I hadn't noticed that. I suspect that it wasn't by design though, just a side effect of having a static background image. pseudonym67 My Articles[^] "They say there are strangers who threaten us, In our immigrants and infidels.
