My 15,000th Post
-
To those of you who suffer from posting envy, get over it. I've seen a lot of posts celebrating 'my 1,000th post' and such. Whoopie! Who cares? Every posting here is unique, and each stands or falls on its own merits. Whether it is the 1st post, or the 100,000th post, each stands alone. If you have something to say to our community of geeks, post it. If you think you are all alone in the world, and that no one could possibly be interested in what you have to say, post it. You may be very surprised at how many responses you receive. I'm not a programmer - I'm an engineer who also programs - yet I have found a community of peers here, among a million plus programmers who are closer, and more important to me than my local "friends." There are people who visit this site who know me better than my own family, and I must admit that some of them I care more for than my own brood. I can't thank Chris, et al, enough for creating this community. Maudlin thoughts, I know, are not fun, but that's the sort of mood I'm in on this occasion. So to celebrate my 15,000th post I'd like to close by saying "Thank You" to all for welcoming me as a peer, and to those million or so who never have anything to say, please introduce yourselves. I'd like to count you as friends, too! "If it's Snowbird season, why can't we shoot them?" - Overheard in a bar in Bullhead City

... And a nice number it is too. As for posting envy, it's more like "Where the hell did this guy find so much time to post!" envy. I'm barely past 2000 and it took me almost 2 years to get here. Oh well, Congrats on the high posts, and good luck with the boat. :)

Congrats on the 15000 posts!! Roger Wright wrote: If you think you are all alone in the world, and that no one could possibly be interested in what you have to say, post it. Pretty much the reason I hardly ever post!!! But I'm a regular (at least an hr per day) reader here on CP. Roger Wright wrote: and to those million or so who never have anything to say, please introduce yourselves Well, I'm and engineer and a programmer too, but not terribly good at either of the two. :). I've learnt a lot from you guys at CP though

Here's to 15,000 more. I have this following quote from you hanging in my cube. It always gets a chuckle from people. Oddly noone ever asks who Roger Wright is. "The key to good organization [is to] throw everything away every Friday. At least 90% of the paper that lands on your desk is garbage from people with too much time on their hands looking for some way to justify their continued employment. If you trash anything really important, you'll get another copy next week." BW The Biggest Loser
