Hi, I live in Buenos Aires. I know the news shows a pretty bad picture of BA, but we are 35 million people living in here. The political and financial situation is really bad, but the place is safe in the south america context. besides, you will have so much fun trying to remember who is the president at the moment :). I don't know what present could it be, everytime somebody goes to the states electronics are the most wanted. Exactly where is this triathlon ? Good luck. Andres Manggini. Buenos Aires - Argentina.

I was in Chile several years ago....I'm guessing its about the same. I actually really enjoyed my visits there....nice people, interesting country. Good idea....a digital camera or MP3 player might be just the thing for the guy who is giving us a place to stay. How about small gifts for people we meet while we're there as a sort of "thank you"?? Often when I travel, I run across someone who helps me out, and its nice to be able to thank them. The race is in La Paz...we're not sure how far it is from BA, but since we were told to fly there, we're assuming/hoping its not far: http://www.triatlon.org.ar/lapaz2002.htm My girlfriend is racing as a professional so the race organizers are taking care of most of the details. Since this is her first professional race, we're both very excited....we're only hoping that it goes well.

Why so sad?? Its obvious that the country is going through economic problems, but from what I've heard its a wonderful country with lovely women and nice beachs!
